Blepharoplasty
(Eyelid Surgery) for Men
Manhattan, New York City
Many men realize the importance
of eye contact in business and social situations. That's
why blephraroplasty is one of the most common procedures
performed in our office. The blepharoplasty procedure helps
minimize the excess skin and fat that can be caused by aging
or heredity. Now conditions like hooding, puffiness, extra
skin, and sagging can be corrected with this safe and
effective procedure.
The Procedure
The eyelid operation is performed in the
office operating facility usually under local anesthesia
with intravenous sedation. The upper lid incision falls
into the crease, and the lower lid incision is placed just
under the eyelashes, although sometimes it can be made on
the inside of the eyelid.
Recovery
Following blepharoplasty surgery, the stitches
are removed at 4-5 days. There will be swelling
and black and blue discoloration which may
take 1-2 weeks to subside. It is important
not to strain the eyes in the initial weeks following the
surgery. Also, the eyes may initially be sensitive to light,
as well as susceptible to tearing or dryness. Blepharoplasty
may be combined with a facelift or other facial procedures
for a more dramatic effect.
