Forehead Lift (Brow Lift) in New York

The eyes are an important feature, and many men are concerned that gradual changes around the eyes can have a negative effect on their appearance. The sagging of the eyebrows due to aging or heredity can make a person look sad or tired. A forehead lift, or brow lift, can tighten excess skin and reduce prominent horizontal forehead creases and vertical frown lines for a more youthful, refreshed appearance.

The Brow Lift Procedure
A forehead lift (or brow lift) is performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia. The incision classically extends across the top of the scalp. Manipulation of the skin and muscle can result in a fresher, more youthful appearance and improvement in forehead creases. In some cases an endoscopic approach may be considered which entails several small incisions and performing the surgery through a lighted tube and a TV monitor. A forehead lift is often performed in conjunction with a facelift and/or blepharoplasty. The brow may also be lifted using a direct approach whereby an incision is made inside the eyebrow to camouflage the scar. This operation may be performed under local anesthesia and is simpler and less costly to perform. The postoperative recovery is much faster with the patient usually able to return to work the following day.

Recovery
Protective wrappings are worn home, and usually for about the first couple days of forehead lift recovery. Some minor discomfort will be felt temporarily, but can be alleviated with oral pain medication. Sutures are usually removed within about 10 days of brow lift surgery, and recovery from bruising and swelling should occur within about 7-10 days.
